Project Description:
This project involved the design and implementation of structural landslide mitigation and stormwater drainage systems for the Assam Rifles campus in Kohima. The primary objective was to enhance the safety and stability of the campus, located in a landslide-prone area, while also addressing the stormwater drainage needs to prevent flooding and erosion during heavy rainfall.
Scope of Work:
- Landslide Risk Assessment and Analysis:
- Conducted a thorough site survey to assess the potential landslide risks based on the topography, soil conditions, and historical data.
- Analyzed critical areas prone to landslides and designed mitigation strategies to stabilize slopes and prevent soil erosion.
- Design of Structural Landslide Mitigation Solutions:
- Designed and detailed structural solutions such as retaining walls, soil stabilization techniques, and slope reinforcement.
- Incorporated geotechnical solutions like geo-textiles and reinforced earth structures to enhance slope stability and prevent landslides.
- Storm Water Drainage System Design:
- Designed an efficient stormwater drainage system to manage surface runoff and prevent flooding.
- Included features like catch basins, culverts, and drains to direct stormwater safely away from vulnerable areas of the campus.
- Hydrological and Hydraulic Analysis:
- Performed detailed hydrological and hydraulic analysis to calculate rainfall patterns and water flow for proper sizing of the drainage system.
- Ensured the design met local drainage standards and could handle extreme weather conditions.
- Structural and Drainage System Integration:
- Integrated the landslide mitigation structures with the stormwater drainage system to ensure seamless functionality.
