Project Description:
The Bailey Suspension Bridge project aimed to enhance connectivity for remote tribal areas of Odisha by providing a robust and reliable suspension bridge. The project focused on designing a bridge that ensures safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles, facilitating improved transportation and access to essential services.
Scope of Work:
- Structural Design:
- Bridge Design: Developed detailed structural designs for the Bailey Suspension Bridge, ensuring the bridge met safety and load-bearing standards.
- Material Selection: Chose high-strength materials suitable for the bridge’s longevity, considering environmental conditions like heavy rains and seismic activity.
- Foundation Design: Designed the foundation and anchoring systems to ensure the stability and durability of the bridge, accounting for local soil conditions and topography.
- Infrastructure Design:
- Approach Roads: Designed the approach roads to and from the bridge, ensuring accessibility for various types of vehicles and pedestrians.
- Drainage Systems: Designed drainage solutions to manage water flow, prevent erosion, and maintain the stability of the bridge and surrounding infrastructure.
- Utility Integration: Provided provisions for future utilities, such as lighting, to enhance the functionality and safety of the bridge.
- Road Design:
- Road Alignment and Pavement Design: Developed the layout, grading, and surface design for the approach roads to provide smooth and durable access to the bridge.
- Safety Features: Incorporated necessary road safety measures, including guardrails, signage, and traffic control features, to ensure safe passage for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Maintenance Guidelines: Provided design plans for road maintenance to ensure long-term durability and effective management of the infrastructure.
